Celebrate the autumn foliage with matcha ice cream and apple whip! Gion Tsujiri’s “Autumn-colored Soft Serve”
Gion Tsujiri’s “Autumn-Colored Soft Serve,” available for a limited time until November 30
Founded more than 150 years ago, and with more than 70 years history in Gion itself, Gion Tsujiri is famous not only for its selection of traditional Uji teas—including gyokuro, matcha, and sencha varieties—but also its innovative matcha sweets. This autumn, they are offering a new creation: Akiiro Sofuto, or “Autumn-Colored Soft Serve.”
Available only during autumn at Gion Tsujiri’s head store in Gion, “Autumn-Colored Soft Serve” combines rich matcha-flavored soft-serve ice cream with two kinds of whipped cream, fragrant kinako and tart apple. A base layer of pumpkin chips adds crunch, and the parfait is topped off with an autumn leaf made of namafu (gluten) and one of Gion Tsujiri’s new “Tsujiri no Tsuki” matcha gaufrettes for the ultimate in satisfaction.
You can order an “Autumn-Colored Soft Serve” to go at Gion Tsujiri’s head store in Gion—but only until November 30! Make sure to drop by on any autumn strolls through this picturesque part of Kyoto.
