My Aesthetic Valentine: Morozoff Collaborate with Sogetsu School of Flower Arrangement on “Proof of Love”
Chocolate in three ikebana-inspired themes, just in time for Valentine’s Day
Valentine’s Day is almost here, and Japan’s chocolate sales counters are heating up. With more and more people choosing to give to friends or just treat themselves, confectioners are competing like never before to catch the eye with new and elegant ideas.
This year, Morozoff locations across the country are proudly displaying a dazzling new chocolate box: their collaboration with the Sogetsu school of flower arrangement entitled “Foi d’amour by Sogetsu.” Sogetsu is one of the “Three Great Schools” of ikebana, and they have collaborated with Morozoff to come up with sweets expressing “foi d’amour” (proof of love) in three design themes: “Flower (Hana),” “Fruit (Mi),” and “Branch (Eda).” Of course, there’s also a set containing all four!
The Hana (flower) set includes flavors like rose and cherry and comes in three sizes: 9 pieces (1,200 JPY), 5 pieces (600 JPY), and 3 pieces (400 JPY).
“Flower (Hana)” sets draw inspiration from roses, cherries, and more, and come in stylish Japanese modern packaging. “Fruit (Mi)” sets contain chocolate truffles in flavors including yuzu and raspberry. Finally, “Branch (Eda)” sets contain pure chocolate in the shape of dewdrops that might fall from the trees. Each set is available in several different sizes, and there’s also a deluxe “Sogetsu” set that contains all 27 varieties of chocolate in a round package evoking the maru suiban “bowl” used in traditional ikebana.
Every flavor in one box: The deluxe 27-piece Sogetsu set goes for just 2,000 JPY
In 1932, Morozoff were the first to sell chocolates for Valentine’s Day in Japan, and they’ve been coming up with new ideas since. This year’s collaboration with the Sogetsu school is both delicious and stylish, making it the ideal gift for the aesthete in your life.
