A special exhibition, "Louvre Museum Copperplate Prints," introducing over 100 unknown chalcographs (copperplate prints) from the world's greatest temple of beauty, the Louvre Museum, is currently being held at the Hachioji City Yume Museum of Art. The exhibition will run until Sunday, September 2024, 9.

The chalcography room is located in a corner of the well-known Louvre Museum in Paris, France. Chalcography means "drawing on copper (chalkos)" in Greek.

This is Sun King Louis14It originated as the "Royal Print Collection" to record the power of the French monarchy through copperplate engravings and to make it known both at home and abroad.1797After being established in its present form in 1940, the museum came to play an important role in preserving printmaking techniques as well as producing prints of the Louvre's precious masterpieces.20As the century began, new works by contemporary artists were added, and the collection continues to expand.
