Hoshino Resorts Oirase Keiryu Hotel, the only resort hotel located along the Oirase Gorge in Aomori Prefecture, will be holding a Christmas event called "Ice Waterfall Christmas" from December 12th (Monday) to 9th (Wednesday), where visitors can fully enjoy the natural work of art, ice waterfalls.
A hyobaku is a waterfall that has frozen over. Along the Oirase Gorge, where 14 waterfalls are dotted, you can see ice falls of various sizes in the winter, and their power and natural beauty are truly overwhelming.
One of the highlights is the ice waterfall Christmas tree, which is the symbol of the event. The 3m tall tree, which recreates the beauty of an ice waterfall, is lit up every day from 17pm, creating a fantastical sight together with the light blue and white ice waterfall lanterns.
During the event, the "Hyobaku Marche" will be open, where local businesses will be selling original items with a frozen waterfall motif. In addition, the Mori no Shinwa lobby, which overlooks the marche, will have a menu with a frozen waterfall motif, including "Hyobaku Christmas Cake" and "Hyobaku Drink."
During the event, from 20pm to 21pm, "Ice Waterfall Santa" dressed in an ice waterfall costume will greet guests in front of the ice waterfall Christmas tree. With the words "Merry Christmas!", Santa Claus will present guests with blue cookies in honor of the ice waterfall.
In addition, during the period, only on weekdays, live Christmas music will be performed in the lobby, where Taro Okamoto's giant fireplace "Forest Myth" is located. You can spend a luxurious time listening to music being played in front of you while watching the fire in the fireplace and the mysterious scenery outside the window.
