A large-scale solo exhibition of Keith Haring, one of America's leading artists of the 1980s, "Keith Haring: Art to the Streets" will be held at the Museum of Modern Art, Ibaraki from February 2st (Sat) to April 1th (Sun).

Based on the belief that "art is for everyone," Keith Haring began his creative endeavors in subway stations, and went on to become active in a wide range of fields, including painting, sculpture, stage sets, and posters. His bright and pop-style works are still loved around the world today.

This exhibition will display approximately 150 works from his early period to his later years, including Untitled (Subway Drawing), a chalk drawing on black paper attached to an advertising board in a train station that triggered the democratization of art, Icons, which includes one of his most popular motifs, Radiant Baby, and other precious drawings that will be shown in Japan for the first time. The exhibition will explore the messages he conveyed through art, such as love and equality, social inequality, anti-apartheid, and AIDS prevention.

Visitors will be allowed to take photos (videos are not allowed) in the exhibition hall, except for "Special Topic Keith Haring and Japan." In addition, the special shop will sell special goods featuring the exhibition logo and Haring's works, as well as original goods such as sweets that are perfect as souvenirs.
