Rurikoin Temple Spring Special Pre-Opening Event "Ryokuinka" Flower Event - A world of beauty alive in silence, woven by Shiho Yokokawa

In the season when the spring breeze blows through, it is a time to feel the breath of flowers in a special space. The "Ryokuinka" Flower Event to be held at Rurikoin Temple in Kyoto on April 2025th and 4th, 12 is an event where you can enjoy exactly that luxurious moment. At this special spring pre-opening event, the world of "nageire" flowers created by florist Shiho Yokokawa will be unfolded, harmonizing with the beautiful space of Rurikoin Temple and leading visitors to a deep silence and a memorable experience.

Shiho Yokokawa — A florist who brings the world of flowers to life

Shiho Yokokawa began her ikebana career in 2006 when she studied nageire flower arranging under florist Toshiro Kawase. She runs the "Ryokuinka Yokokawa Shiho Nageire Flower Class" in Ichigaya, Tokyo, and in addition to giving lectures and lessons around the country, she has also demonstrated her skills in a wide range of fields, such as ikebana arrangements at Michelin-starred restaurants and the Imperial Hotel, and participating in art events. Her approach of continuing to express the beauty of stillness and movement while passing on the beauty of Japanese culture to the present day through flowers has earned her high praise both inside and outside the industry.

"Ryokuinka" Flower Gathering - A Quiet Story Played by Flowers

At the "Ryokuinka" flower event, Yokokawa will use the "nageire" technique, which originates from tea ceremony flowers and makes use of the natural form of flowers, to arrange flowers that blend into the spring scenery of Rurikoin. Spending time surrounded by the tranquil atmosphere of Rurikoin with the flowers will not just be an experience of admiring them, but will also be an experience in which the flowers speak to you from within your heart.

Rurikoin Temple — A historic garden and a floral feast

Located at the foot of Mount Hiei, Yase in Kyoto has been attracting people since ancient times with its colorful scenery that changes with the seasons. Muryojusan Komyo-ji Temple Kyoto Main Temple Ruriko-in is a famous spot in this area that is visited by many people in spring and autumn.

Lapis lazuli is the color of the Pure Land, one of the seven treasures that decorate the Pure Land. In a deep mountain area where various maples grow luxuriantly, a clear spring gushes forth, covered with layers of moss. The temple was given the name "Ruriko-in" (Ruriko-in) because the entire main garden seems to be about to shine with lapis lazuli. In particular, in spring, colorful flowers bloom in full glory along with the fresh greenery that spreads across the garden, allowing you to enjoy a world of overwhelming beauty.

Why not spend a memorable moment at the special flower gathering at Rurikoin Temple, where the new green maple leaves are in full bloom?
