The Tenri Kura Kouryu Festival, an open-door event that will turn the entire city of Tenri in Nara Prefecture into one field, will be held for the first time for three days from Friday, November 7th to Sunday, November 9th, 2025.
The Japanese sword forge, Futo Masataka Sword Forge, also participated.
This event is a new attempt to open the doors to various sites rooted in Tenri, such as manufacturing, agriculture, distribution, food, design, and culture, and allow visitors to experience the charm of the region. While traditional "open factories" are events that open up manufacturing sites to the public, this event is a next-generation "open door event" that focuses on the industry and culture of the entire region.
Inada Sake Brewery, a sake brewery founded in 10, will be offering tastings of new series and rare local sake.
This is the first time the event has been held, and 28 locations across the city will be participating. Places that are normally off-limits to the public will be open to the public, including a logistics warehouse, a craft workshop, a library boasting architectural masterpieces, temples and shrines, an orchard, and the mayor's office.
Nakagawa Masashichi Shoten NKG Warehouse
For example, the 2700m3 logistics base, Nakagawa Masashichi Shoten NKG Warehouse, will be transformed into a "crafts theme park" for three days only. In addition to guided tours of the warehouse, a variety of content is available, including a market with limited edition and outlet items, a craft experience using materials, and a Nara Marche with more than 20 stalls.
cofunia
Additionally, the inn "cofunia," located at the foot of Nishiyamazuka Kofun, will be holding a special opening of its guest rooms, which are modeled after keyhole-shaped tumuli, and a talk event themed around the Kofun period.
Persimmon Leaf Sushi Hiramune
The long-established Kakinoha Sushi Hiramune will not only offer tours of its manufacturing plant, but will also be running a special program where visitors can experience making Kakinoha Sushi.
Tenri University Library
At Tenri University's Tenri Library, a nationally registered tangible cultural property, guided tours of the retro Art Deco-style building are available, providing an opportunity to rediscover this precious cultural asset.
The Tenri University Equestrian Club, which was founded over 90 years ago and runs a "horse therapy project" that aims to achieve harmony between the mind and body through interaction with horses, also participated.
During the event, a free shuttle bus will also be running between participating businesses. These three days will create new interactions and discoveries in the town of Tenri. We hope you will visit the area and experience the unknown charms of Nara and Tenri.
