Nakagawa Masashichi Shoten's multi-purpose commercial complex, "Shikasaru Kitsune Building" (Nara City, Nara Prefecture), is holding a series of anniversary events from April to December 2026 to celebrate its 5th anniversary. As the first event, they are currently hosting the "Deer-themed Spring Festival" until May 31st (Sunday).
Held irregularly on Sundays during the period are events such as "Deer Gathering," where about 100 deer gather to the sound of a natural horn; "Nara Guided Tour with Deer," a 45-minute stroll that explores the historical background of why deer are considered messengers of the gods; and "Deer-themed Matcha Experience," where you can casually enjoy the tea ceremony outdoors.
In addition, there will be workshops where you can paint your favorite deer to create your own unique "My Deer" and make a "one-of-a-kind deer magnet," as well as limited-edition sweets such as "Deer Tiramisu," where fluffy tiramisu is shaped like a deer's face and you can freely add toppings from the provided parts, and "Deer Monaka Ice Cream," which uses sake lees from Nara's famous sake "Kaze no Mori."
Why not enjoy an experience you can't get away with in Nara this spring?
