Adachi Museum located in Yasuki City of Shimane Prefecture is not only reputed for its impressive collection of modern Japanese paintings but also for the magnificent beauty of its vast Japanese garden. The Museum is also known for its brilliant reputation and popularity overseas as exemplified by its No.1 position in 16 consecutive years in the rankings by “Journal of Japanese Gardening”, a U.S. magazine specializing in Japanese gardens.
The 6 gardens constructed in the 40 acres (165,000 m²) of land in the premise, built by Zenko Adachi who believed that “gardens are also to be enjoyed as if they were art pieces”, deeply impress and inspire visitors with varying landscapes they offer in different phases of the seasonal cycle. Adachi Museum allows visitors and art lovers to appreciate masterpieces of Japanese art, including works of Taikan Yokoyama, while also experiencing seasonal natural beauty.
