Fukushima Prefecture is an ideal place for growing rice, thanks to its vast land area, clean water, favorable climate and natural features, and large year-round and day-night temperature differences.

 

 

"We want to produce the best rice in Japan from Fukushima." With this desire in mind, over the course of 2006 years since 14, "Fukuwarai" rice was developed, which is packed with the pride and commitment of Fukushima, a rice-producing region, and is a rice that allows you to fully enjoy its "fragrance, sweetness, and richness" through the efforts of farmers who love rice.
While the product was in the development stage in 2013, the Great East Japan Earthquake occurred, but they overcame even that and the ultimate brand of rice was born.

"Fuku Warai" is a cross between "Niigata 88," a strain descended from Japan's pride and joy "Koshihikari," and "Gunikei 627," a prefectural line descended from "Hitomebore," created by rice professionals. After repeated quality and taste checks, it was selected as a recommended variety at the Fukushima Prefecture Recommended Variety Selection Committee held in 2019.



Only farmers who have obtained the GAP certification, which proves that they have strict control over the production process, can grow "Fukuwarai". Furthermore, only rice that meets the strict criteria of "brown rice protein content of 6.4% or less (※1) and sieve size of 1.9 mm or more" can be called "Fukuwarai".
The only brand of rice in Japan that has such standards is "Fukuwarai."

The name "Fuku Warai" (Fuku, Warai) was chosen through a public contest and the opinions and suggestions of Fukushima Prefecture's creative director Michihiko Yanai, as well as rice masters, chefs, and people involved in the distribution industry who are active at the forefront of their fields.
Everyone is a godfather, with the hope that "everyone who makes it and eats it will smile and be happy."

 




The packaging was designed by Bunpei Yorifuji, one of Japan's leading graphic designers and illustrators.
Yorito, who grew up in the countryside and spent his childhood helping friends on farms, expresses his desire to bring smiles to the faces of both those who make and those who eat his food.
The painting, painted in a soft blue, "conveys a world that has been supported by rice and grown together with rice."
