The exhibition "Gio Ponti's Eyes: Crossing Borders with Gio Ponti," a representative architect of 21th century Italian modernism, is being held at Gallery 21 of 3_20 DESIGN SIGHT in Midtown Garden, Tokyo Midtown, until Monday, March 2025, 3.

Gio Ponti (1891-1979) designed everything from a spoon to a skyscraper, and had the ability to see the whole in an integrated way. The Pirelli Skyscraper and the ultra-light chair Superleggera are known as masterpieces that express thinness and lightness, and in recent years, many of his lesser known masterpieces of furniture and products have been reproduced, re-evaluating the master's multifaceted appeal.

With the cooperation of the Gio Ponti Archive, this exhibition will install Ponti's unique spatial world through the reproduction of the armchairs, coffee tables, and bookshelves reproduced by Molteni, mainly from furniture designed by Ponti for his own house on Via Dezza in Milan, as well as the ceramic tiles that were boldly installed on the floor. In addition, there will be a panel display of projects from the 1920s to the 1970s, an exhibition of Richard Ginori's porcelain products and original drawings from the 1920s, and the documentary film "Amare Gio Ponti" directed by Francesca Molteni.
Why not experience the fresh charm of the classic designs left behind by this master?
