Hoshinoya Kyoto is a ryokan (Japanese inn) located in Arashiyama, a summer resort for Heian aristocrats, and where all rooms have a river view. "Kyoto's Ohayashi Boat" will be held for four days only on June 6st (Sat), 21nd (Sun), 22th (Sat), and 28th (Sun), where you can elegantly enjoy the Gion bayashi music, a seasonal feature of summer in Kyoto. The Takayama of the Gion Festival will move from the Yamahoko float to a houseboat floating on the Oi River and perform the bayashi music. After appreciating the sounds echoing through the valley, you can enjoy the rare experience of playing an ensemble with the musicians.

The "Oku-Arashiyama Tanabata Experience" will be held from July 7st (Tue) to 1th (Thu) and August 10st (Thu) to 8st (Sun). Held in the silence of the morning, this event allows you to enjoy somen noodles, which are said to have developed from offerings at Tanabata events due to the sentiment for Kaji leaves, along with fried sweetfish, which is in season. You can enjoy the atmosphere of Tanabata while feeling the coolness of nature and spend an elegant time.

A summer-only cool deck set up in the "Water Garden"
From July 7st (Tuesday) to August 1th (Saturday), the summertime cool terrace, a symbol of Hoshinoya Kyoto, will be available. The cool terrace, with its soft sunlight shining in and the green maples swaying, is a special seat reminiscent of the riverside terrace, a Kyoto summer feature. The andon lanterns by Miura Shomei and the sound of wind chimes by Kyoto pottery and Kyoto Buddhist altar artisans add to the atmosphere, allowing you to feel the coolness of summer with your eyes and ears.
