OGATA will begin selling "OGATA SAKE," an exquisite blend of unique sakes aged for different periods, at HIGASHIYA GINZA, SABOE TOKYO, Yakumo Saryo, and HIGASHI-YAMA Tokyo from Monday, December 1, 2025.
Two types of "OGATA SAKE" will be sold this time, named after the gods of the sea and mountains that appear in Japanese mythology. Thanks to its outstanding assemblage (combining different ingredients) techniques, unlike any other sake, it goes well not only with Japanese cuisine, but also with Western, Middle Eastern, and Asian cuisine, and its flavor matches the food cultures of various parts of the world.
The ocean-themed "OGATA SAKE Watatsumi" combines Junmai sake made using the Yamahai method with long-term aged Junmai sake made with black koji, which is rare in Japanese sake, and dry Junmai sake. The clear taste, which harmonizes umami with the refreshing acidity of the black koji, goes well with fish dishes such as meunière and bouillabaisse, as well as fricassee and potage.
The mountain-themed "OGATA SAKE Yamatsumi" combines rare, long-aged Junmai sake, which has been aged for over 30 years to develop a deep, full-bodied flavor, with fragrant, gorgeous Daiginjo sake and several uniquely aged sakes from different years. Enjoy the wonderful, rich yet light quality of the sake, as well as its harmonious flavor, which goes well with meat dishes such as beef, duck, and wild boar, as well as rich-flavored dishes using cheese.
