"Mairingen Fresh Craft Gin (ORIGINAL)," a craft gin produced by Kyotango Mairingen Distillery, won the "Best Japanese Gin" award, the highest award in the Japanese gin category, as well as the "Best Overall Gin" award, awarded to the best gin of all gins entered this year, at the San Francisco World Spirits Competition 2025, a global spirits tasting event.
Furthermore, at the same competition held this spring, the distillery also won the "Double Gold" award, which was recognized as a gold medal by all judges, making the distillery, which was established just one year ago, truly a "triple crown winner."
The triple crown winner, "Mairingen Fresh Craft Gin (ORIGINAL)," is made using 14 botanicals that are carefully handled by hand, including Kuromoji picked on the day of distillation and Kumazasa roasted over heated stones, and is produced through a unique pre-processing process that takes time and effort to create a unique "lively aroma."
The brewing water is a luxurious blend of ultra-soft water with a hardness of 10 that springs from the mountains of Tango-Amanohashidate-Oeyama Quasi-National Park at an altitude of 640m, and ultra-hard water with a hardness of 180 that irrigates the foothills. The optimum ratio is sought to resonate with each botanical, and the very nature of Kyotango is reflected in every drop.
Why not try a drop of the world's finest tea, born from the forests of Tango?
