The Seiko House Hall in Wako, Ginza, will host the "Moonscape: Takagi Atsuto Calligraphy Exhibition" by Takagi Atsuto, a special member of the Nitten Exhibition and a leading figure in the contemporary kana calligraphy world. The exhibition will run from March 5th (Thurs) to 15th (Sun).
"Spring" 36×25cm
Kana calligraphy is a uniquely Japanese art form, where flowing brushstrokes and white space resonate with each other. Takagi continues to explore the essence of this art form, and has received numerous honors, including the Nitten Prime Minister's Award and the Japan Art Academy Award.
The theme of his first solo exhibition at Wako is the moon. Takagi has projected the tranquil moonlight and deep emotional feelings that the Heian period poet Saigyo entrusted to his waka poems into the modern era with his graceful lines and clever use of white space.
"Something" 36×25cm
"I wanted to write as I am, so I put all my effort into each piece. I picked up my brush with the hope of depicting a certain scene in each of my works. They are still in progress, but I hope that everyone will enjoy viewing them while imagining those scenes," says Takagi.
Instead of reading, enjoy the view. Why not give yourself over to such a peaceful time in a tranquil space overlooking the streets of Ginza?
