An exhibition titled "Four Artists' Expression in Craft," featuring the work of four up-and-coming artists who have established unique expressions in the fields of lacquerware, metalwork, and ceramics, will be held at the Wako Seiko House Hall. The exhibition will run from March 19th (Thursday) to March 29th (Sunday), 2026. The exhibited works will be sold by lottery.
This exhibition brings together four artists who, in their respective fields, maximize the appeal of their materials and hon their skills in pursuit of their ideal form. All of them are in their 40s and 50s, the prime of their careers, and are highly regarded contemporary craftspeople both in Japan and internationally.
Akimasa Ikeda, Mirage Electronic Device, w5.7×d5.7×h1.9cm
Akira Ikeda, a lacquer artist, creates a digital space that fits in the palm of your hand, by bringing delicate mother-of-pearl inlay and maki-e (gold lacquer) to life in a world of jet black.
Seikichi Hasegawa, Kanagasane decorative box, φ8 × h4.5cm
Seikichi Hasegawa is a metalworker who utilizes advanced techniques such as inlay and openwork to create innovative objects, primarily tea ceremony utensils.
Akihito Niisato, Light Cup and Stand

"Akira Niisato is a ceramic artist who pursues refined beauty through the transparent, pointillist patterns applied to the body of his ceramics, with "light" as his theme.
Masayasu Mitsuke, Red-painted Fine-Detailed Square Incense Burner, W6.6 x D6.6 x H7cm
Masayasu Mitsuke is a ceramic artist who inherits the traditional Kutani red enamel detailing technique and creates a world of refined, intricate depictions that blend classical and modern sensibilities.
Additionally, a talk event featuring Mieko Iwai, head of the crafts department at the National Museum of Crafts, and four exhibiting artists is scheduled for 2 PM on Sunday, March 22nd. This promises to be a valuable opportunity to discuss contemporary crafts from multiple perspectives.

Purchases of the artwork will be determined by lottery. If you wish to purchase an artwork, please visit Seiko House Hall in person to apply. Applications by email or telephone will not be accepted.
