Actus Shinsaibashi is currently hosting the "ZANAT Exhibition - The Story of 100 Years of Hand-Carved Furniture Nurtured in Bosnia" as a related project to "Osaka Art & Design 2026," a design event set in the city of Osaka. The exhibition runs until June 23rd (Tuesday).
MOSTAR STOOL Designer: Naoto Fukasawa Size: W30 x D30 x H45cm Material: Walnut Price: ¥345,400
This exhibition will feature ZANAT, a woodworking furniture brand from Bosnia and Herzegovina. The brand name means "craft" in Bosnian, and true to its name, their greatest characteristic is their work that breathes life into wood by hand, based on wood carving techniques that have been passed down for over 100 years.
KORZO DINING TABLE Designer: Patrick Norguet Φ69.7×H74cm Material: Oak, Bronze ¥393,800
The history of ZANAT dates back to the late 19th century. The founding Nikšić family has survived World War II and the Bosnian War, passing down traditional techniques to the present day. Their exceptional wood carving skills were registered as a UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage in 2017.
NERA COFFEE TABLE Designer: Monica Forester High type: W45×D45×H44cm Low type: W62×D68×H35cm Material: Walnut ¥302,500 - ¥399,300
On the other hand, ZANAT's uniqueness goes beyond merely inheriting past techniques. Current owner Orhan Nikšić believes that modernity can be found and incorporated into traditional crafts, and has collaborated with renowned designers such as Naoto Fukasawa, Monica Forester, and Patrick Norguet. As a result, they have created unprecedented and innovative furniture that fuses craftsmanship with refined sensibilities.
SAVA ARM CHAIR Designer: Patrick Norguet W60×D48.5×H74×SH45cm Material: Oak 394,900 yen
The venue will showcase and sell a wide variety of ZANAT products, including the brand's signature collections such as the "MOSTAR STOOL" by Naoto Fukasawa, the "NERA" coffee table by Monica Forrester, and dining tables and chairs by Patrick Norguet.
Having survived through turbulent times, ZANAT's masterpieces continue to be passed down to the present day. Why not experience the warmth and sculptural beauty unique to hand-carved pieces at the venue?
