Hoshinoya opened Hoshinoya Nara Prison, a luxury hotel created by renovating the former Nara Prison, a nationally designated Important Cultural Property, on June 25, 2026. While preserving the majestic architectural beauty that has witnessed approximately 100 years of history, it is a heritage hotel of overwhelming scale that blends modern luxury with the grandeur of the building.

The former Nara Prison is a valuable building, being the only one of the "Five Great Prisons of the Meiji Era" that was completed during the Meiji period to retain almost its original form. In this restoration project, while inheriting the historical value of its red brick exterior walls and distinctive structure with cells radiating outwards, it has been reborn as a space where guests can have the rare experience of "staying" in an important cultural property.
