MoN Takanawa: The Museum of Narratives, a multi-purpose museum in Takanawa, Tokyo, is hosting a summer vacation event called "Open Up, Unleash Your Curiosity! Summer Vacation 2026." The event offers a variety of interactive programs covering art, science, robotics, Japanese culture, and more, providing enjoyment for children and adults alike throughout the day.
Terada Mokei Workshop: "Creating a landscape with the Yamanote Line, a looping train line, using paper"
● Dates and Times: August 8th (Sat), 9th (Sun), 15th (Sat), 16th (Sun) 13:00-17:00 each day

– Production begins at 13:30 (You can join and leave at any time during the event).

● How to participate: No advance registration required. Registration will be accepted at the venue at any time.
● Target audience: Elementary, junior high, and high school students (English support available / Children who cannot use the cutter independently must be accompanied by a guardian)

● Participation fee (tax included): Participation requires the purchase of a "Guruguru Exhibition with Workshop" ticket.

The opening special exhibition, "The Spinning Exhibition - The Story of Humankind's Continuous Evolution," allows visitors to explore the secrets of the world in a fun way while experiencing the "spinning" motions around them. Activities include a "Spinning Puzzle Stamp Rally" throughout the museum, paper craft making themed around the Yamanote Line, workshops, and gallery tours for elementary school students. Discounted tickets for families are also available, making it an ideal opportunity for parents and children to deepen their interest in art and science.
Furthermore, starting July 25th, "Life's Future+", a re-imagining of the signature pavilion that garnered attention at the Osaka-Kansai Expo, will also begin. "Life's Future" offers an experience of traveling 50 years into the future with an android, and a new scenario has been added that confronts "choices for the future of life." It will provide an opportunity for parents and children to think together about "what it means to be human" and "what life is."
"Moon-Viewing Lantern" Making Workshop

● Venue: Tatami (4F)
● Each day from 12:30 PM / 15:30 PM
● Workshop target age: Anyone who can use scissors.(Preschool children must be accompanied by a guardian.)
● Workshop participation fee (tax included): 2,300 yen

On the fourth floor of the building, in the approximately 100-tatami mat space called "Tatami," a workshop will be held on August 29th (Sat) and 30th (Sun) where participants can create fantastical "moon-viewing lanterns" using the traditional paper-cutting art of "monkiri."

Furthermore, the three cafes and restaurants will be offering summer-only shaved ice parfaits. In addition, "MoN Takanawa" boasts plenty of outdoor spots, such as a terrace where you can watch trains up close and a footbath. The fact that you can spend your time however you like, in addition to the exhibits, is another attractive feature.
