Can you read? Traditional Japanese color “Ikkyozome”

There are not only four seasons in Japan: spring, summer, autumn, and winter, but also 72 seasonal seasons, which start with the first day of spring in early spring and end with the coldest weather in late winter, and each of the XNUMX seasonal seasons is divided into three parts, making the year XNUMX seasons. The story progresses along with the ``calendar,'' a seasonal calendar divided into equal parts called XNUMX seasons.

We will also introduce the calendar, traditional Japanese colors, how to read the kanji, and the background behind the colors. Let's enjoy together the Japanese sensibility that has been woven since ancient times.

3 solar terms: Vernal equinox 25 solar terms: Cherry blossoms start around March 29th to XNUMXth

Every year I hear that cherry blossoms are blooming earlier. In fact, the declaration of cherry blossom blooming in 3 is March 16th in Tokyo. It is about 10 days earlier than the season indicated by the 3nd season. Originally, it would have been around the end of March, when the buds would finally start to open.

Ikkonzome = Ikkonzome

Pink color like beautiful cherry blossom petals. The color is called ``Ichikyozome''. It is read as ikkonzome. A loaf (600 grams) of dried safflower is used to dye two pieces of silk in the current unit of ippiki.

The name comes from the fact that only one loaf (600 grams) of safflower is used to prepare it. It is a dyeing and weaving name that has been around since the Heian period. Because safflower was expensive, its use was severely restricted and could only be used by noble and wealthy people.

A loaf of dyeing reminiscent of cherry blossoms. This is the color that comes to mind when admiring the blooming cherry blossoms.
