橡 is the old name for the oak tree of the Fagaceae family. It is the color of sawtooth oak, a type of acorn that was used for dyeing, and generally refers to a blackish brown. Even if it is simply expressed as mulberry, there are yellow mulberry mordant with lye and aluminum, and black mulberry mordanted with iron, and it has been known as a color that has been closely associated with the Japanese people since ancient times. The flower language of oak is gentle. It is also sometimes written as ``Yu,'' ``Yuzuka,'' ``Kunogi,'' and ``Tsurunami.''
橡=Tsurubami
In ancient times, it was the color of costumes worn by people of low status, but from the mid-Heian period onwards it was used as the color of robes worn by people of high rank. ``橡'' is pronounced ``Tsurubami''.
