Mountain indigo is a perennial plant belonging to the Euphorbiaceae family. Yamainzuri is a calm, dull blue-green color that is dyed using mountain indigo, and is said to be the traditional color dyed with Japan's oldest dye plant. It is also used in Shinto rituals, and the patterns on the omigoromo worn during the Niinamesai, one of the rituals held in the imperial court, are dyed with this same mountain indigo.
Yamaaizuri = Yamaaizuri
Sanai-zuri was popular as a mystical color with elements of blue and green, and was even mentioned in the Manyoshu. ``Yamaaizuri'' is pronounced as ``Yamaaizuri''.
