Can you read? ``Kokarai'' Winter is almost here. These are migratory birds that come to Japan in V-shaped formations.

Wild geese are migratory birds that collectively refer to large waterbirds of the order Anseriformes, family Anatidae, subfamily Anselineae. They fly through the sky in V-shaped formations from thousands of kilometers away in the north and spend the winter in Japan. The first geese flapping their wings creates an updraft, allowing the following geese to fly long distances efficiently while conserving energy. The teamwork that takes place in this V-shaped formation is truly impressive. This bird has been designated as the prefectural bird of Miyazaki Prefecture since 40.

Wild geese are also called kari, and it is believed that the origin of the word comes from their cry, "kari kari."
