What is Japan's traditional color "Tengoro"?

Tengo carpet is a dark blue-green color that resembles velvet fabric. The word velvet is a variation of the Portuguese word veludo and the Spanish word velludo, and is also called velvet. Velvet was introduced to Japan around 1532-1534. It is said that it was brought over by Portuguese merchant ships and then began to be woven in Kyoto. The name of the color of Tennuru is also mentioned in the ``Kindai Fuzokushi'' written in the late Edo period.
