What is Japan's traditional color "Aokyuha"?

The leaves are dyed using a mixture of indigo and yellow, giving them a dull yellow-green color with a hint of brown. It is a color name that has been around since the Heian period, where the colors used to express the changing seasons as the leaves of the trees fade and decay. There are so many variations of this rotten leaf color that it is called ``48 colors of rotten leaves'', and the colors are classified into three systems based on the color of rotten leaves: ``green rotten leaves,'' ``yellow rotten leaves,'' and ``red rotten leaves.''
