Can you read? It's not Kike-san, whose surname is ``Kike'', which is rare.

"Kie" is a name distributed in the order of Hokkaido and Gifu, and is a surname for people living in Kita Ward, Sapporo City, Hokkaido, or Hida City, Gifu Prefecture.

As the kanji ``Kie'' indicates, the origin of the name is ``to return safely.'' Arishige Kanamori, the lord of Hida Takayama Castle, was killed in the 1615 Osaka Summer Battle between the Edo Shogunate (Tokugawa Shogun family) and the Toyotomi family (Hashiba Soke). It is said that the samurai who went to war in accordance with the above were given the surname ``Kike'' because they returned safely.

Return home = Kanya

``Kie'' is a surname pronounced as kanya. It is said that only a few dozen people have this surname in Hokkaido and Gifu prefectures, and one theory is that when they moved from Gifu prefecture to Hokkaido, they changed the pronunciation to ``kiya.''
