What is the traditional Japanese color “Tyukusairo”?




Dewgrass color is a bright, pale blue color that is named after the color of dayflower flowers that bloom on summer mornings. The dayflower is an annual plant of the family Asiaticaceae, and blooms with blue flowers inside two-folded leaves, which wither within a day. It is also famous as a wild flower that grows in familiar places such as roadsides and vacant lots, and is a flower that is familiar to Japanese people.

The old name is "tsukikusa", and it is also written as moongrass or kamotogusa. Due to its color fading, it was often used in the world of haiku to express words such as ``utsuro'' and ``disappear.'' ``Tsyugusairo'' is read as Tsuyukusairo.
