What is the traditional Japanese color "Gossacha"?
Gomecha is a dull greenish blue color. The name "Gomecha" comes from the fact that Tokugawa Ienari, the 11th Shogun of the Edo Shogunate, liked to wear willow stripe crepe and used it as kimono (gomeryo) for the Tokugawa family. Willow stripe crepe came to be called "Gome" or "Gomeshi crepe." The yarn-dyed color used for Gomeshi crepe is dyed by layering Yasha, a black-brown dye, over an indigo base. This yarn-dyed color came to be called Gomecha.
Omeshicha = Omeshicha
Although it has the word "tea" in it, it is a color with a strong greenish hue, unlike the modern brown color. It refers to the yarn-dyed color of the high-quality silk fabric worn by the shogun. "Omeshicha" is pronounced "Omeshicha."
