What is the traditional Japanese color "Shion-iro"?
A slightly bluish, dull pale purple is the color of the asters. It is the color of the asters, a perennial plant of the Asteraceae family that blooms in autumn. It is said that asters were originally introduced from China and Korea as a medicinal herb for cough suppressants, but because of their pretty, beautiful flowers, they have also been cultivated for ornamental purposes since the Heian period. Currently, some of them have become wild and are distributed in the mountainous areas of Kyushu and the Chugoku region.
