In ancient times, Kokatsu was originally pronounced "Koukechi" and was a tie-dyeing method that became popular during the Nara period. As a family name, it is known that the Kokatsu clan was a vassal of Minamoto no Yoritomo, so it is a family name with a long history.
Due to the difficulty of the kanji, the kanji changes from 纐纈 to 交告 in Gifu Prefecture, but for some reason, in the surname 交告, it is written as 告, even though the center part of the 纐纈 is "吉".
