Yamabuki-cha is a brownish yellow. It is a traditional color that is also known as "dark Yamabuki". According to the "Tekan Mosyo Setsuyo" Shinko Dyeing Theory, "The ancient name is Shishi-zome, and in the Hoso Toyosho Sho Nijitsu, Shishi-zome can be mixed with yellow ocher and madder red," and it is said to have been a similar color to "yellow ocher," a color dyed with gardenia and safflower.
