What is the traditional Japanese color "Chitose tea"?
Chitose tea is a color derived from Chitose green, and refers to a dark greenish brown color. At first glance, it may look green, but it seems that austere intermediate colors of yellow-green like Chitose tea were also called "brown." The word "Chitose" was considered auspicious, so it was a commonly used name. During the Bunsei era (1818-1830), this color was popular in the Kansai region, and was used for women's tsumugi with crests and men's cotton clothing.
