What is the traditional Japanese color "Fox Color"?
"Fox color" is a light brown color like the fur on a fox's back. Rather than expressing the beauty of the color, it is often used to describe foods such as bread or rice cakes that have been deliciously toasted, such as "the surface is turning a golden brown." Color names derived from animals are relatively rare among traditional Japanese colors, but this name has been used since ancient times because foxes were familiar to us.
Fox color = Kitsuneiro
Foxes are sacred animals in Japanese Shinto. In particular, at Inari Shrines, foxes have been worshipped as messengers of the gods. For this reason, statues of foxes are often placed at the entrances of Inari Shrines, and foxes are considered symbols of fertility and prosperity in business. "Fox color" is pronounced kitsune-iro.
