What is the traditional Japanese color "Beni-sho-nezumi"?
The red-and-white mouse is a dark grayish reddish purple color, like ink layered over red. In the "Tekagami Moyo Setsuyo" Shinko Sensho Kosetsu, it is written that "the old name for the red mouse is Kurogaki, or Beninando," so it was also called Kurogaki or Beninando, but it is said to be a different color from Kurogaki. This red-and-white mouse is known as one of the colors of "48 Teas and 100 Nezumi" that was popular in the latter half of the Edo period.
Red-burning mouse = Benikeshi mouse
During the Genroku period of the Edo period, it was popular as a chic and stylish color for kimonos with stripes, checkered patterns, and small patterns based on brown and black colors.
