What is the traditional Japanese color "Sakura Nezumi"?
Sakura-nezumi refers to a dull cherry blossom color that is a pale red color with gray or light ink added. It is generally considered to be the color of cherry blossoms known as "sumi-zome no sakura" (sumizome no sakura), and is a color that gives an elegant impression with a slight melancholy. This color name has been used in dyeing since the early Edo period, but it has become especially common since the Genroku period (late 17th century). In fact, it is still recorded in sample books such as the "Yoshii Tokichi Dye Sample Book." The name "sumi-zome no sakura" comes from a lament related to Sumizome Temple in Kyoto, "If you have the heart, then this year bloom in sumi-zome," and is known as a color that symbolizes melancholy.

Among the grayish cherry colors, lighter ones are called "ash cherry" and darker ones are called "sakura mouse." "Sakura mouse" is pronounced "sakura mouse."
