What is the traditional Japanese color "Peach"?
As the name suggests, peach color refers to a pale red color like a peach blossom. It is a color that is dyed pale using safflower, and this name was also used when dyeing hemp, a plant fiber. It is generally considered to be a slightly brighter color than the actual peach blossom. Its history is long, and it appears in the Nihon Shoki, in the description of the 6th year of Emperor Tenchi (667), as "peach-dyed cloth." Also, in Volume 12 of the Manyoshu, it is written as "a light garment of peach blossom brown," symbolically describing a pale peach-colored garment.
Pink = Momoiro
In ancient times, the word "peach" was also called "tsuki." "Peach color" is pronounced "momoiro."
