What is the traditional Japanese color "blue and white oak"?

Seihaku-oak is a traditional Japanese color known as a dull blue-green color. It is a color name that has been used since the Heian period and was also called kikujin. This name comes from the color of mold made from fermented koji in China. The Engishiki records a cross-dyeing technique using kariyasou and murasakiso as a method of dyeing seishaku-oak, which produced a dull yellow-green color. It is sometimes considered to be the same color as yamadogo-iro.
