What is the traditional Japanese color "Sonezumi"?
Plain gray is a pure gray that does not contain any other colors. It is a particularly pure gray tone that resembles mouse fur, and "plain" means that it is completely free of color. In the "Five Colors of Ink," which expresses the shades of ink in five levels, it is positioned as a medium-brightness achromatic color that corresponds to the "heavy" level of the five levels: burnt, dark, heavy, light, and blue. It is sometimes treated the same as gray, but strictly speaking, there is a difference; gray is considered to have a bluish tinge and gray to have a yellowish tinge.
Sunezumi = Mouse
The name "Sunezumi" also has the connotation of indicating an appearance stripped of unnecessary elements, like a bare face or bare skin. As a pure neutral gray, it is a color that conveys unadorned, natural beauty. "Sunezumi" is pronounced sunezumi.
