What is the traditional Japanese color "silver"?
Silver is a grayish-white color that shines in the light, like metallic silver. Among light grays, it is close to a slightly whitish "white mouse" and is sometimes called "shirogane-iro." Silver has the property of turning black when it reacts with sulfur, and a technique called "smoked silver" was developed that takes advantage of this chemical reaction by intentionally smoking it to create a deep gray color. Additionally, by mixing gold and silver to create an alloy, it is possible to create a variety of different gold colors.
Silver = Giniro
In Japan, gold has been likened to the "sun" and silver to the "moon." While gold symbolizes strength, silver represents serenity and dignity. "Silver" is pronounced "gin-iro."
