What is the traditional Japanese color "Akatsukiba"?
A deep reddish brown color with a reddish tinge is called Aka-Kutsuteba. During the Heian period, Aka-Kutsuteba was widely used as a clothing color, and there were so many shades that they were called "48 colors of Kutsuteba." Aka-Kutsuteba is particularly used as a layered color for woven fabrics and as a color scheme for textiles. Aka-Kutsuteba, along with yellow-Kutsuteba, blue-Kutsuteba, dark-Kutsuteba, and light-Kutsuteba, were used according to the season and costume.
