What is the traditional Japanese color "Dianthus Green"?
The gentle crimson color known as "Dianthus green" comes from the Dianthus flower, which is native to China. Dianthus is a flower of the carnation family and was introduced to Japan from China, where it was known as "Tang Dianthus." The Dianthus, which was originally native to Japan, was called "Yamato Dianthus" and was distinguished from Dianthus. It even appears in a poem by Otomo no Yakamochi in the "Manyoshu" anthology, suggesting that in the past, Dianthus and Dianthus were not distinguished so closely.
Dianthus color = sekichiku-iro
Dianthus is easy to grow in gardens and pots, and has long been enjoyed as a familiar flower. It is said to have become popular as an ornamental plant because its flowers last a long time and bloom for an extended period. "Dianthus color" is pronounced "sekichiku-iro".
