What is the traditional Japanese color "Mame-ao"?
The color known as "douqing" (豆青) is a pale bluish-green color reminiscent of the green of beans. It is named after the color of porcelain produced mainly at the Longquan kiln in Zhejiang Province, China. In particular, porcelain that is uniformly and evenly colored is called douqing. The unique bluish-green color of douqing is created when the iron content in the glaze and clay changes when fired at high temperatures. In Japan, it has been called tobiseiji (飛青磁).

The "bean" in the name "Tosei" does not refer to the food bean itself, but rather to a gentle and calming color. "Tosei" is pronounced "Tosei."
