The seasonal taste of “Rokugan” enjoyed by makeup artists who refine the beauty of both mind and body

MICHIRU gained experience in Paris and New York in the 1990s, and is currently active as a makeup artist and beauty director based in Tokyo. What the veteran beauty creator has realized through many experiences is that beauty only shines when there is a healthy mind and body. Just as I had hoped, he invited me to a Japanese restaurant that evokes the feeling that the more you eat, the more beautiful you become.

With yoga and a vegetable-based diet
Days to prepare your mind and body

MICHIRU eats mainly vegetables and brown rice, enjoys yoga, and strives to live a healthy lifestyle. She started taking care of her body because of her experience of not being in the best shape due to hard work, and has been trying to improve her overall lifestyle. In this lifestyle, I chose the Japanese restaurant ``Mutsukari'' because I wanted to eat out and enjoy meals that were good for my body.

Right: One dish of winter appetizers: Seasonal vegetable ohitashi. The elegant white plate is made from Hizen Yoshida ware from Ureshino, Saga Prefecture, which, like Arita ware, has a history of 400 years. It was created with the idea of Executive Chef Akiyama, who has a close relationship with Ureshino at a cooking event. Left: Executive chef Yoshihisa Akiyama stands in the open kitchen of Rokugan. Spread out in a dramatic dining space
beautiful vegetable dishes

Rokugan, located on Ginza Namiki-dori, features a dramatic space with a large open kitchen in the center of the store. Guests can sit comfortably at the wide counter and savor the seasonal delicacies while watching the chefs compete with the ingredients. MICHIRU first came to know this place as a Japanese kaiseki restaurant with delicious vegetables, and since visiting in 2013, he has started visiting with his family.

On this day, ``Seasonal Vegetable Ohitashi'' was served as an appetizer. Figs, sweet potatoes, senmaizuke, romanesco, pomegranate, and puffer fish milt are also added to the array of seasonal ingredients. ``Cooking is art. I want you to enjoy it with your eyes before you eat it. By arranging the dishes diagonally, the scenery on the plate changes,'' says the up-and-coming Executive Chef Akiyama.

Rokugan's private room (for 5 to 6 people) on the 6th floor has bold walls painted by master plasterer Shuhei Hasado. It's a comfortable, artistic space with high ceilings and skylights letting in light. Impressed by Japan's high quality in everything
Ginza is a city that shows the beauty of Japan

``Looking at the open kitchen of this restaurant, you can see many chefs moving around briskly, and the head chef preparing delicate dishes while keeping a sharp and detailed eye on the staff's movements and the progress of the customers' cooking. , I'm impressed.'' When I returned to Japan from overseas, I realized that the quality of the food was high, from the service to the food. He also says that Japanese society functions on the basis of trust and confidence. "I feel like that's something that money can't buy." Ginza in particular is a city where you can feel the beauty of Japan. In Ginza, I often go to clubs where I can enjoy music, cafes where I can read books while drinking coffee, and to gather information.

In the streets of Ginza. Both Paris and New York are wonderful cities with a high level of creativity, but unlike Japan, they are societies where self-assertion is always expected. The high quality of everything in Japan is said to impress even models from overseas. In the streets of Ginza. Adjust the sense of space that the person has,
enhance beauty

MICHIRU has a reputation for her cutting-edge fashion makeup, and is also popular and trusted for her sensitivity, high technique, and dignified and warm personality. She says that the special feature of her own makeup is that she carefully observes the person on the day, whether it's a model or an actress, and then adjusts the person's atmosphere and brings out their individuality and beauty.

What is important in my work is, ``My work involves direct contact with the skin, so I have to comfortably exchange energy with the person I'm applying my makeup to, and keep my mind and body in proper harmony and condition so that I can perform at my best.'' That's it.'' Decorating the surface is part of the job, but the essence of beauty lies within. I have a clear belief that my job is not to look pretty with makeup, but to make a person's true nature shine.

``If I'm not looking good, it's obvious to others. My role is to be beautiful, so I try to make myself beautiful on the inside as well.'' To refresh herself, she goes mountain climbing and trekking with her husband and friends. I like mountains with shrines at the top. She said, ``A god is enshrined on top of the mountain, and the god protects both the mountain and the people.I think it's great.'' Her smile and slender figure suit her both in the streets of Ginza and in nature. Her makeup has a great power that deeply affects her heart. From now on, she wants to use her infinite power to help more people by removing barriers and making it barrier-free.
