Wako is a landmark in Ginza, Tokyo. The name of the Wako main building will be changed to "SEIKO HOUSE GINZA", and before the official opening on June 6th, the anniversary of that time, the publisher attended the unveiling ceremony. Shimamura and Nakajima from the editorial department participated.
"Seiko Sky Garden" has a wooden deck. I'm in Ginza, no, I'm in the middle of Tokyo! That's what it feels like.
The first place I was shown was the rooftop. Of course, that clock tower will appear in front of you. The clock tower is usually seen from the Ginza 4-chome area, but when you see it up close, you will be overwhelmed by its power. This rooftop was renamed to "SEIKO HOUSE GINZA" and was later reborn as "SEIKO Sky Garden." The rooftop, which has a wooden deck and is decorated with greenery and other plants, is likely to be the venue for various events in the future.
This time, after the usual bell sound, a special version of the special bell sound "Seiko Harmony" was also unveiled. Of course, this is the first time I've heard the sound of this bell so close. I was surprised that I was surrounded by the sound of the sound, and that the lingering sound was longer than what I heard on the ground. You can listen every hour on the hour from 6 a.m. until June 19th. Don't miss this limited time version when you go to Ginza.
The next place I was guided was the 5th floor. This has been beautifully renovated into a guest lounge. When the building was completed 90 years ago, the floor used to house the president's office. The marble mantelpiece and the soft velvet of the sofa create a high-quality and dignified atmosphere. Until now, this floor has only been used on a limited basis, but the plan is to make it a space that can be used for both domestic and international communications and presentations, with equipment to accommodate webinars and other events.
The guest lounge on the 5th floor has been beautifully renovated to retain the atmosphere of the president's office and conference room at the time of construction. This room has an impressive marble mantelpiece.
The atmosphere at the time of completion is expressed by the curved windows, carpets and wallpaper with plant designs. It's so gorgeous.
At Seiko House Ginza Hall on the 6th floor, "Seiko Harmony - 12 sounds created by master craftsmanship" will be held until June 6th. We collected 19 sounds of "craftsmanship" related to Seiko's business, such as the sound of a clock ticking, the sound of a tailor cutting cloth, and the sound of a chocolatier crushing ganache. This will lead to ``Seiko Harmony,'' which he composed. This is a unique initiative, creating a sound installation that fully engages all five senses on a dimly lit floor.
"Seiko Harmony - 6 sounds created by master craftsmanship" will be held until June 19th.
A booth where 12 sounds are generated. The meaning of each sound is displayed. The holographic display inside the booth will catch your eye.
A mock-up showing what it would look like at the time of completion. A quick snap of Shimamura filming.
At the venue on this day, a mock-up of the construction at the time of its completion was also displayed, and everyone was intrigued. The elaborate designs on the windows and walls were made with precision, and after admiring them, I was busy taking photos.
The area above the 5th floor has been developed as SEIKO HOUSE GINZA, the base for promoting the Seiko brand, but the 1st basement floor to the 4th floor is still Wako. It remains a landmark of Ginza. I have a feeling that there will be more opportunities to visit SEIKO HOUSE GINZA for events held in the future. After the presentation, we stopped by the first floor of the Wako Annex and selected a variety of chocolates before heading home.
