4. To express my father Keiji's dream. The thoughts and challenges of Kenichi Kunieda, the third generation rose farmer

WABARA is a rose that has a gentle expression and supple strength, which is not found in the gorgeous roses produced in Europe and America. In 12 episodes, we will introduce the charm of WABARA, which is grown with care at Rose Farm Cage, a rose farm in Moriyama City, Shiga Prefecture, and Rose Farm Cage's efforts to coexist with nature.

For Kenichi Kunieda, who was born as the third generation of a rose farm, roses have always been a part of his life. He realizes this when he enters the workforce and lives far away from his parents' home. How rich a life with roses was. Kenichi's mission is to give new life to the roses that his father has grown with so much care.

Born as the third generation of a rose farmer, Kenichi Kunieda grew up watching his father, Keiji, who was active as a rose breeder, up close. However, taking over a rose farm was not an option for him to start his career. This is because his father had told him that he didn't have to inherit the job. After graduating from university, he became an office worker and worked in a job that had contact with overseas countries.

In 2006, Kenichi made a U-turn to Moriyama City, Shiga Prefecture, and faced the challenges of becoming a businessman. He has two different memories: the scene in which he was very happy with the roses he gave as a thank you when he was an office worker, and the image of his father calmly carrying out the work from the production site to shipping the flowers to the flower market, which has not changed since childhood. I welled up. Roses are produced in a family business without knowing the facial expressions of the consumers who give and receive flowers. The idea behind this idea was to expand the possibilities of new bulk production by carefully connecting the two.

The first thing I thought about was how to deliver the roses to consumers. Up until now, in order to facilitate distribution, work at rose farms was completed by producing roses that met standards and selling them to distributors. They realize that this trend is for the market and not what consumers really want. The idea of delivering the roses, which were filled with the thoughts of his father, Keiji, to people who would understand their value, and of having the power to spread the word to the world, was something that bloomed in Kenichi's mind. In 2007, he named the rose "WABARA" the result of his father Keiji's dreams and aesthetic sense. Based on the concept of ``creating living roses,'' we also began a transition to soil cultivation. Kenichi's challenge to express and communicate his father's dream began here.
