European and American high jewelry is said to be characterized by its dynamic design and craftsmanship. On the other hand, Japanese jewelry has a design that embodies a ``delicate'' sensibility and a refined technique of ``precision.'' The brilliance of Japanese high jewelry, which is considered both art and craft, creates jewelry that seems to penetrate the soul. Premium Japan will introduce carefully selected brands.

Becoming a manufacturer brand that handles high jewelry

During the Edo period in Japan, hair ornaments and obi-dome became very popular among the common people, and a unique Japanese accessory culture was born. Western jewelry that arrived in the Meiji era, such as necklaces, rings, and earrings, had been modeled on European models for many years. Only recently, since 2000, has there been a change in this trend. One of the reasons behind this is that many Japanese companies have started taking part in the "Cool Japan" initiative backed by the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry.

In 2009, the jewelry brand ``OKURADO'' was started by attaching the surname of representative Hitoshi Okura to original jewelry produced by Atelier Mayedor, a jewelry workshop founded in 1969. Before launching the brand, the workshop had created numerous pieces of high jewelry at the request of top-class jewelry stores. Although they have a rich track record, they were only products for other companies.

``OKURADO'' has utilized its 40 years of experience to present works that are particular about design and originality. He captures Japan's seasonal scenery as if captured through a camera's viewfinder, and sublimates it into a design. Another noteworthy feature is the use of lacquer, which I had never thought of as a material for jewelry. The vermilion part of the necklace, in which cherry blossoms and buds are arranged to cover the décolleté, is expressed by layering lacquer. The cherry blossoms, bright red, and white diamonds are sublime and symbolize spring in Japan. That's not all, the three cherry blossom decorations on the edges can be removed and worn as a brooch. These ideas will win the hearts of women who are a bit greedy. The hydrangeas, camellias, and the jewelry featured here bring to mind a Japanese garden that changes with the seasons.
