Located in Kawaramachi Sanjo, about a 15-minute drive from JR Kyoto Station, Hilton Kyoto is within walking distance of Pontocho and Gion, and is close to the World Heritage Sites of Nijo Castle and Kiyomizu-dera Temple, making it a convenient location for sightseeing and business. Combining the charm of a historic city with a modern and sophisticated design, Hilton Kyoto is the perfect hotel for adults staying in Kyoto.
Hilton Kyoto is located in the charming streets of Kyoto.
The five-story atrium lobby is designed with a motif of woven threads.
The concept of the building is "Kyoto SYNAPSE."
The hotel is imbued with the desire to connect Kyoto's history, tradition, innovation, and various charms, and this philosophy is reflected throughout the hotel. After checking in, look up at the atrium ceiling and you'll see a magnificent design made of woven threads stretched across the walls.
Symbolizing the design theme of "ORIMONO (woven fabric)," the art piece features threads unfolding from a loom in a corner of the lobby, creating a sense of being enveloped in the story of Kyoto's traditional craftsmanship. This beautiful and sophisticated space was created by the late spatial designer Yukio Hashimoto, whose design philosophy is reflected throughout.
The comfortable guest rooms, which are imbued with Japanese aesthetics, will remind you of your origins.
There are 313 guest rooms in total, with 16 types ranging from standard rooms of approximately 40 sq m to suites of 121 sq m. The Japanese interior, which exudes the warmth of wood, carpets depicting a map of Kyoto, and shoji screens on the large windows, creates a space that is nostalgic for Japanese people and gives visitors a sense of peace.
The King Kyoto Suite also has a tatami space.
The King Deluxe Suite features a separate bedroom and living room.
The Executive Lounge on the 9th floor, exclusively for guests staying in Executive Rooms and Suites, is located at the end of a corridor reminiscent of the alleyways of Kyoto's townhouses. In addition to check-in and check-out, you can also relax and enjoy breakfast, refreshments, and evening cocktails.
Just considering the benefits of being able to freely use the space and meals, it would be safe to say that an executive room or suite room is definitely recommended.

The executive lounge has a relaxing atmosphere.
The charm of the hotel is not limited to accommodation.
On the first floor, there is the all-day dining restaurant "Téori" and the lobby lounge and bar "LATTICE LOUNGE," where you can enjoy seasonal afternoon teas and original blends from Kyoto's long-established "Ogawa Coffee." The nine photogenic sweets and four savory dishes lovingly prepared by the pastry chef are visually stunning and pair perfectly with Uji tea and carefully selected Japanese black tea.
Afternoon tea is also available at the Lattice Lounge.
Teori is an all-day dining restaurant where you can enjoy a buffet made with carefully selected homemade ingredients.
Another recommended spot is the hidden rooftop bar on the 9th floor, CLOUD NEST ROOFTOP BAR. It's a spot known only to those in the know, where you can enjoy cocktails, light meals, and non-alcoholic drinks while taking in the beautiful view of Kyoto city at dusk.
The seasonal Cloud Nest Rooftop Bar offers an original pina colada, as well as light meals and sweets.
Another attraction of the accommodation experience is Hilton's spa brand, eforea SPA, the first of its kind in Japan.
Using original oils extracted from natural materials from Kyoto, such as Kitayama cedar and Kuromoji, the spa offers a wide range of treatments, including facial, body, and foot care. Guests can also use the couple's rooms, allowing them to enjoy a luxurious time away from the everyday.
Eforea Spa is the first Hilton spa brand in Japan. It features a couple's room with a cypress bath.
Osteria, the first new concept at Hilton Hotels in Japan, brings you the passion and warmth of Italy
In the fall of 2025, Osteria Italiana Seven Embers, a dining restaurant filled with the warmth of Southern Italy, opened on the first floor.
The executive chef is Mariangela Ruggiero, who has been awarded the title of "UNESCO World Heritage Ambassador for Italian Cuisine" by the Italian government. This authentic Italian cuisine, created by an Italian executive chef, is a first for a Hilton hotel in Japan.
Executive Chef Mariangela Ruggiero.
"Hilton Kyoto is a hotel whose philosophy is to 'listen carefully to what our guests have to say.' When we searched for a style that would embody not only our guests' opinions, but also our commitment to quality and heartfelt hospitality, and also convey the passion and warmth of Italy, we thought that an osteria would be the perfect choice," he says.
The word "Oste" means "hospitality" in Italian.
Here, guests can enjoy heartfelt hospitality, an exciting dining experience, and a time filled with smiles and love. They can also enjoy a heartwarming menu based on recipes passed down through generations, such as fresh pasta made by hand daily and pizza baked in a wood-fired oven, and can be surrounded by human connections and warmth. This is the osteria that Hilton Kyoto aims to be.
The interior and atmosphere are relaxed and comfortable.
"Guests who visit Hilton Kyoto have high expectations for the food. In order to meet those expectations, we wanted to deliver authentic flavors."
Ruggiero believes that authentic Italian cuisine is rooted in respect for ingredients, the seasons, and the people who share the table, and that it is linked to memories of the flavors and warmth of Italian homes. Based on authentic Italian techniques, for the first time, he has incorporated "family recipes" from his hometown into the menu.
"Being able to offer my family's flavors, including my grandmother's always-made dishes like Cavatelli al Ragù di Maiale della Nonna (pasta with pork ragu) and Polpette al Sugo (meatballs in a slow-cooked tomato sauce), at Hilton Kyoto means I can share a part of my roots with guests, and that brings me great joy," he says.

Homemade oven-baked pizza is perfect for enjoying with close friends.
The menu features dishes that combine the flavors of nonna (Italian for grandmother) passed down through generations with Kyoto ingredients and the chef's sensibilities, such as "Cavatelli with Kyotanba Highland Pork Ragu," handmade pasta infused with the delicious flavors of Kyotanba Highland Pork; "Puglia-style Bombette," melted cheese wrapped in Kyoto pork and baked to a fragrant finish; and the Naples specialty "fried pizza," made with Awaji mozzarella and San Marzano mozzarella.
"We want to create a place that people will want to return to again and again, rather than a special restaurant that they will visit only once. We want to show that Kyoto cuisine can serve as a bridge between cultures, while also providing an authentic dining experience that is rooted in tradition," Ruggiero said, expressing his passion for the restaurant.
He also says that the essence of Italian cuisine is to share the joy of "gathering around the table" and "sharing food and emotions."
"For example, I would like to be an osteria that has the casual and warm atmosphere of a home dining table, where people can just drop in to eat pizza. The important thing is for people to feel the joy of dining at the table."
Of course, the drinks menu is also centered around Italian products, with a lineup that allows you to fully enjoy the Italian atmosphere, including authentic Italian wine and beer.
Finally, Ruggiero concluded by explaining the theme of the restaurant:
“Soul of Italy × Elegance of Kyoto”
The spirit of Italy and the elegance of Kyoto - "This fusion creates an unforgettable dining experience."
A stay at Hilton Kyoto offers a special experience where Kyoto culture blends with the charm of the world through the guest rooms, lounge, spa, and restaurants. Not only is it a great base for sightseeing in Kyoto, but guests are also guaranteed a space and time where they can forget about their daily lives and truly relax.
This is one more thing to enjoy about my stay in Kyoto.
