Even for those born and raised in Japan, putting on a kimono and styling one’s hair appropriately can be a challenge. Even for experienced Kimono wearers, putting one on can take well over 40 minutes. Meiji-Za theatre are offering people the chance to watch the performance “SAKURA -IN THE BOX-”, with their new “Kimono Rental Theatre Experience” plan.

“SAKURA -IN THE BOX-” blends a variety of traditional arts and music, along with pop culture such as anime and games in order to showcase Japan’s beauty and strength throughout the 4 seasons. It doesn’t have dialogue, meaning you don’t even need to understand Japanese to fully appreciate the performance.

There are approximately a thousand different kimonos to choose from, and with their rental plan you can pick whichever you like. The kimono, hairstyling, and even assistance putting it on are included in the reasonable price, so all you need to do is turn up!
